Wizbuzz Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Well what a disaster, yesterday i was asked for some help with a memory upgrade by a friend. I recommended he seek some advice online etc. well he looked at what he found & info I was given & Well & so he installed new memory from 1gb to 2gb. When he started up the hard drive stayed on / the mains on button keeps flashing / there is no signal to the monitor / & thats it nothing!!! I went round and put his old memory back in & restarted but this time It started as normal (so it seemed) it then stops H/Drive activity after about 5 seconds / no signal on monitor / & thats how it stays doing nothing. I am not an expert on the bits in the case so SOME HELP would be most appreciated, I did see he has an ATI Card installed (Monitor is attached to that) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some info The Spec. AMD64 Athlon 64 3200+ MSI MSI-6741 1.0 Chipset VIA - K8T800 (VT8383) REV. 01 was Running 1GB DDR Memory at the time 2 x 512mb, & he upgraded to 2GB. I've just managed to suss out problem, my friend had slightly disconnected something also the memory slots were a bit dodgey & dirty, so I cleaned them & installed the 2GB's, & hey presto! she fired into life, problem solved :D But thanks again Wolfeymole & oh it was 2 x 1GB he got.
