I am unable to download stuff from internet as I keep getting a window coming

saying that can't access windows installer, maybe a problem or something!

What can I do. Why is windows installer not working?

Click Start, Run, and type SERVICES.MSC. In the right pane, right-click Windows Installer, and then click Start. Also, set the service "Startup Type" to Manual.

 

"The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed" error message when you install a program in Windows XP:

I have tried what you said about SERVICES.MSC but it already said started

next to it so I restarted it but how do I set startup type to manual? Sorry

but I am not IT whizz and need it explained. Thanks.
