Guest Gregory Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Can anyone offer me any helpful information that can stop my IE6 closing down after just 10 minutes of use? If i am reading my e-mail,on-line banking, reading on-line newspapers or even if the Yahoo Home page is sitting idle on the screen and i am not doing anything at all,IE6 just goes off the screen, which leaves me looking at the desk-top.It leaves me having to log back in to my e-mail box or sign back into my bank account. All possible solutions most welcome.Scans by McAfee,Windows Defender and Ad-Aware have produced no possible virus's etc. -- If you have received this e-mail in error then please notify the sender & return.Thank you.
Guest DLinares90@gmail.com Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Re: IE6 Closes Down Every 10 Minutes You can try an alternative program like Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Browser, etc. but if your comfortable with IE6 then maybe you should reinstall it. That's the first thing I would do. See if it helps.

Guest Rajesh Dudala Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 RE: IE6 Closes Down Every 10 Minutes Iam sorry Bob, the article is not at support.microsoft.com thats true i suppose its only for internal use. anyways here are the steps : To reinstall ie from inf folder using the cd : 1. Click Start, Click Search, select All files and folders. 2. Make sure that Search system folders and Search subfolders are also checked. 3. In the All or part of the file name box, type ie.inf . 4. In the Look in drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard disk that contains the Windows folder and then click Search button. 5. In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file that is located in Windows\Inf folder. 6. Right-click the ie.inf file and then click Install on the context menu. 7. Insert Windows XP CD when it is requested. 8. Restart the computer when the file copy process is complete. -- Rajesh Dudala MCDST Subject Matter Expert Platform: Windows XP Microsoft TechSupport India "BobA5835" wrote: > Hello Rajesh: > > Can you please check your reference for your Step 4? : > > "Step:4 > Reinstall ie from the inf folder > refer 812762 at support.microsoft.com" > > I can find no such MS KB Support number "812762" > > Tks, > > BobA5835 > >
