XP Missing dll file

My pc fails to boot up in any mode as it says there is dll file missing or corrupt is there any way I can rescue the hard drive and the data on it. The pc is hp 1380 IMEDIA and as its own back up on the hard drive but as I can not get in to safe mode its useless unless some one here can help.regards xs

From that boot menu, did you try "Last Known Good Configuration"?

 

Do you have an XP cd?

Can you please tell us what is the exact error message you receive? Is the missing file called hal.dll or something similar?

Now then over the weekend I have found a widows xp disc:)but before I do any thing I thought it best to come back and ask for your expert advice and between us I may be able to save my data kind regards Gary
