Guest Brian Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I am running winXP Pro, Danish version I want to install the english version (I have a CD) I was told that all software would need to be re-installed, not just the operating system. Is this true? Is it possible to change the language to english without re-installing? Is it possible to re-install XP without it affecting currently installed software and other settings? thank you, Brian

No. You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of WinXP (in whatever language you want) to perform a clean installation. Is this true? Yes. There is no way to change languages except by doing a clean installation, and a clean installation involves formatting the drive. That means losing *everything* on the drive, Windows, applications, data, etc. > Is it possible to change the language to english without re-installing? No. > Is it possible to re-install XP without it affecting currently installed > software and other settings? No. You can do what's called a Repair installation, and that doesn't affect applications and data, but that's really just a repair, and not really an installation. And it certainly can't be used to change languages. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup
