Guest Gregc Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I need to install R2 to my system to get the DFS File Replication abilities it has. I have W2k3 SP2 on all of my servers. Can I just install R2 on my files as is or if there something I need to do first? -- Gregc
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: Installing R2 Hello Gregc, If the servers are Domain controllers you have to upgrade the schema first from the second R2 disk on the schema master with an account htat is member of the schema admins. On member servers this step is not needed. Guest Danny Sanders Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: Installing R2 You *might* have to remove SP2, install R2, then reinstall SP2. If you get an error about the version compatibility when you go to install R2 (from the second disk of the R2 set by running setup2) hth DDS "Gregc" <Gregc@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:90EA0093-5ECD-476F-B0B4-58605A37891C@microsoft.com... >I need to install R2 to my system to get the DFS File Replication abilities > it has. Guest Steve Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Re: Installing R2 I did this yesterday and was prompted for a new installation key (original key was from normal Server 2003 with no SP). I had to use a key from an R2 french version we had lying around to get R2 in, then had to re-activate. You should not have this problem if your media and keys were already R2 but only the first CD was used. Good luck.
