Guest Hugh Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I upgraded to XP from WIN98SE using the SP 1 upgrade disk I purchased. I am now fully SP2 patched, but when I go to update some drivers, I am asked to install the SP2 disk for some files. I don't have the SP2 disk, are these files located anywhere else that I can download what I need? i.e. "usbscan.sys" & "i8042prt.sys" as a start.
Guest Richard in AZ Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: Files on SP 2 Disk You are being asked for the "Windows XP SP2" disk. The SP2 part is because your XP is now registered as version SP2. Just put in your Windows XP disk. The files it wants are on that disk. What it is asking for is simply the Windows XP installation CD. Because you have SP2 installed, it is calling it the Windows XP SP2 CD, but all you need to do is insert the XP CD you have. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup
Guest Hugh Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: Files on SP 2 Disk I tried inserting the upgrade disk I have and it can't find the file. I also ran a "search" on the disk and it didn't find it either. I think the files were added after my purchase. One should always own the CD for the OS they want to use. -- http://www.bootdisk.com/
