Guest Alan Abrams Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I have XP SP2 and when I manually or schedule a backup the utility hangs and never completes. I have to hard boot my PC to stop the hung process. Anyone have any ideas?

Thinking I was "safe" I thought I would be able to recover my entire system and have it boot just like before. Wrong! I had to reinstall everything, including several download hours of MS updates. My files were recovered okay, but that's it. Not sure if Vista has a good backup utility, but I doubt it.

I use it for backup but I also make copies of partitions using Partition Magic. The copies are kept on separate drives (I have 3 drives in the main workstation). I keep the ntbackups on 2 external drives where the partition backups are internal drives. That way if I have to recover a bad drive, I can quickly copy the partition over to the new drive and then use the latest backup copy to make sure everything is updated. -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Try excluding the folder where it hangs and see if it will complete. -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address.
