Guest KureGirl Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I have Internet Explorer and MSN listed on my computer are these two seperate downloads of ie, or do the over lap each other, what will happen if I delete MSN, will the one listed as Internet Explorer be removed as well? -- Maggie
Guest peaviner Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 RE: double entries My understanding is that Internet Explorer cannot be uninstalled from your computer (assuming it's Windows) but MSN can. I'd try going to Control Panel and then Add Remove Programs and then search in the list for MSN. I'd then uninstall it. If what you see listed is a shortcut on your desktop, deleting it will just delete that shortcut and won't remove the program itself. I don't believe that Internet Explorer will be removed if you uninstall MSN or delete the shortcut. Hope it all works out for you. Guest KureGirl Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: double entries I see MSN explorer and Internet Explorer in my start up menu, but only Internet Explorer in the Add/Remove area. Also when I click properties on each, they show that they are in fact in the Program files. There is also alot of MSN stuff in there, should I delete everything that says MSN. -- Maggie "P. Guest P. Di Stolfo Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: double entries Hello, no, don't delete everything that contains MSN in it. MSN Explorer is not the same as Internet Explorer, it is included in every Windows XP installation. Here's some information on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSN_Explorer If you don't want the shortcut to the MSN Explorer placed in your start menu, you can, of course, delete it from there. But don't delete anything from the Program Files folder. Here you find the right instructions to completely uninstall MSN Explorer, if you like: http://explorer.msn.com/setuphelp.htm Hope this helps you. Greetings, P. Guest P. Di Stolfo Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Re: double entries Hello, Internet Explorer is the current mainstream browser, with all needed functionality. MSN Explorer is a browser, but older (at least the version in XP included) and integrates some MSN/Windows Live services. I think you won't need MSN Explorer for your daily use, but you will need Internet Explorer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSN_Explorer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer Greetings, P. Guest PattiR Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Re: double entries Hi KureGirl, MSN is listed in the add and remove windows components, found in add and remove programs window. You can remove it there if not needed. I don't think it completely removes it, just hides it and everything associated with it. You can easily reverse the process if needed, you may be asked for your os or app disk. -- Thanks, PattiR Windows XP Home SP2 IE 6.0 AOL 9.0 SE "KureGirl" wrote: > I see MSN explorer and Internet Explorer in my start up menu, but only > Internet Explorer in the Add/Remove area.
