First things to check -

all the cabling and that the PC monitor is in the left hand side port on the graphics card.

then try just one RAM stick, if that does not work try the RAM in various RAM slots.

is their power to the Graphics card?

Hi tried all that you asked me to try but on joy. I have had a better look at the memory that came with the motherboard.

make Rendition 1GB DDR2 PC25300 NONECC DIMM RM 12864AA667.8FE

It looks like the computer shop has sold me the wrong type of memory i think.

Hope you can confirm this.

thanks

5300 should be fine - do you know anyone that has anything higher like 6400 - 6400 is much more compatible with newer boards.

also have you took the CMOS battery out (when the PC is off) and reinserted it?

Your motherboard XFX geforce 8200

can support 4 different speeds of DDR2 RAM 533/667/800/1066. Elixir branded RAM isnt the greatest in the world and i have seen many of their modules not working properly in the past. Try checking your bios settings to make sure theres nothing there that needs to be adjusted to support the 800Mhz speed as the module currently in there is 667Mhz. I would recommend trying another stick of RAM, i usually go with Computer Memory upgrade,Laptop Memory,PC Memory RAM DDR DDR2 Memory these guys have great delivery and support and are a local british company.
