Guest Jennifer Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I have an older computer that I added XP to (Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2) and also have broadband internet connection. I am able to access the internet, but I have a few programs that I have downloaded (one is SmartMusic 10.0 for my daughter's band class) and when I try to run the program I get an error that says "an active internet connection is required". I have disabled the firewall but still no luck. My modem is connected to a linksys router. Any help would greatly be appreciated!!
Guest sgopus Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 RE: No Active Internet Connection Error Message you might have to forward a specific port on the router, do some checking and see if you find what port the program is trying to use. You may also need to either set the app as allowed and/or forward a port depending on the app. As for SmartMusic, it requires Full Administrative access to the computer to activate. Guest Brian A. Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Re: No Active Internet Connection Error Message After looking around some more at SmartMusic's site I don't think it's a Port Forwarding issue. I tend to lean towards "you need to add the app" to your firewalls program web access list as "Allowed". You mention you have a Linksys router, check the routers logs to see if there's entries on what port may be closed/blocked that is related to the app if you wish. You also need to check your web browser to make sure it's not blocking cookies. From SmartMusic support on: "no internet access to site but you can still surf the web". http://makemusic.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/makemusic.cfg/php/enduser/popup_adp.php To help others help you, please provide: Router model Firewall application Web Browser and Version -- Brian A.
