Windows XP activation

Hi!

Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

I have a problem with my HP dv5000. After my harddrive crashed I can't

activate my new one. I ran a ghost on the old disc to a new, then I started a

windows repair installation on my new disc. This was no problem, but when i

boot this disc up now, it says that windows needs to be activated before

logon. I choose yes I want to activate windows but the activationguide

doesn't start instead I come back to the login page. This just goes around

and around. I can login in safe mode, but just without network. When I try to

run the activation guide in this mode, it says that I can't activate windows

XP in safe mode. What can I do?

Best Regards

Re: Windows XP activation

Hi:

Try get a look to this KB:

You are prompted to activate Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 every time

that you start the computer

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312295/en-us

Maybe it is not the exacta cause, but give a try.
