DHCP Entries Not Understood

Recommended Posts

When I look at the DHCP leases on my Windows Server 2000 standard, I see the

first ten leases taken up by IP assignments to things like

sip810a3b.mydomain.com. Can anyone help me understand what these entries are

for? thanks.

Hello Dan,

Looks like an ip phone. Is it used in your environment?

Best regards

thanks for the quick reply Meinolf. No, no IP phones are in use in the

environment. The only thing I can think of is we do use LogMeIn for remote

access to several computers. Could that be it?

Hello Dan,

I think not, can you ping the device? You can check the beginning of the

mac address for the vendor, maybe it helps you to identify the hardware.

Just fill the first 4 doubles in google (think its the first 4)

Meinolf, you were right the first time. I misread your note. We do indeed

have IP phones and they are taking up the IP space. Thanks for the tip!
