When I am capturing video from my camcorder in Windows Movie Maker I see the video but hear no sound. My speakers work fine in other applications. I have a desktop HP Media Center 7160n. I am using Conexant Falcon II NTSC Video Capture and Realtek High Definition Audio on my computer. I have checked that both are enabled and have drivers installed and working. I think there must be a setting somewhere that needs attention. I am really a novice computer person so any suggestions, please be very specific. Thank you.

S-Video doesn't have sound:)

You'll also need to use the separate audio out on the camcorder.

Go into WMM's Tools>Options. Put a check on "Download codecs automatically" then click ok. Close and re-open WMM. Better now?

Sorry to report that did not fix problem. But I think yea it might be something related to WMM. I tried using SonicMyDVD and was able to capture both video and audio. But I don't want to use it rather use WMM instead.

Hi jace;

Is this camcorder analog or digital?

The cables you are using to connect your camcorder seems to indicate that it is analog not digital. WMM can't import from an analog device. You would need to use different software such as you did with SonicMyDVD. This often produces the no sound issue.

To connect a digital device and import to WMM you need to connect via IEEE 13944 connection or a USB 2.0.

Camcorder is digital I guess.

Its a JVC Compact Super VHS Camcorder. It says Digital Signal Processing on the side of the camcorder.

Sorry jace but that's analog not digital. A digital recorder will typically record to a card or a mini dvd or an internal hard drive and not a cassette. Any of the VHS formats are analog. As such WMM won't work to import the movies. WMM only supports importing from a device that stores the information in a digital format not an analog format.
