LCD all the way - they are a clearer picture and they give off no where near as much heat - I recently bought a 42" Toshiba LCD with digital freeview built in for £600 and that was with a wall mount thrown in too - if you are doing this poll as you are looking to buy mate - let me know and I will fire you a pic over.

I would go with a plasma TV because they provide sharper quality picture

If this is the case then why does EVERYONE use LCD PC monitors, I am not being picky for the sake of it mate but you have to look at the ratios to understand why an LCD is better and therefore they provide a better quality

I hear that LCD is brighter in a well lit room.

I will admit that it is a close call -

Plasma 25,000 : 1 Dynamic Contrast

LCD is 17,000 : 1 contrast ratio

Lower is better

The above is my LCD VS the nearest rival in terms of price both 42" around £620

Blacks are more intense on plasma though which makes for the better picture.

I have several Plasma tv's in my house. I would never go back to a LCD. If you do buy a plasma or LCD for that matter, beware of the make. RCA's are junk, Toshiba, Sony, Pionner and Philips all make top of the line and are the absolute best at it. Sony has the best plasma's around. When I get my new house built, we will have only plasma TV's except for the theater which of course will be a projector. Just my humbled opinion.

I find its better picture quality, esp. on HD channels. Yea LCD is better for brightly lit rooms, and plasma is better for darker rooms. I just close the blinds during the day(when I get to watch it during the day).

When I was a teenager I bought a lens kit to convert a 14" tv into a projector. lol

Obviously the picture quality was horrible, and you could only watch it at night with all the lights off. But, seeing a 12 foot high enterprise was really cool.

Personally, I have a Mac Mini wired up to a 70" plasma TV but unless somebody wants to hook up a 70" LCD screen in the same room to a similar computer with the same RAM and OS, and then run identical programmes on both computers, how can I possibly tell which one is best? All that I CAN say is that with my screen and my computer I get image quality that looks like the dog's doo-dahs to me.
