Guest Tribal Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 When I uninstalled Nero 7 software from my computer my DVD writer/CD ROM no onger worked. When I checked the device manager for it it came up the the following message; Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41) Can anyone assist -- Windows XP Novice NYC

You should back up the registry before making changes: Click Start, Run, type Regedit, click OK. Locate this Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters] Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values.
