Either tap the F8 key on starting pc,safe mode, enter xp as

administrator,reset

display.Or,install xp cd,boot to cd,recovery,select 1 for C: press enter

for pass-

word, type:LISTSVC scroll the page & write down all pertaining to monitor or

display that you disabled, after exit screen, type:ENABLE /? read the info &

"enable" youre services/drivers once thru, type:EXIT let xp start.

thx.

it's actually my friend's laptop. She says it won't let her go into Safe

Mode ... it dies in a sort of a DOS screen -

I guess she'll need the xp cd.

thx for your help

Re: disabled monitor on laptop Windows XP

Laptops often have a 15-pin socket or something for attaching an external

monitor. Perhaps you can see what you need with the second monitor in order

to enable the primary monitor.
