Picture Degrade Problem

When turning on the laptop, the screen saver pic is fine but within a few minutes the pic starts to change whereby a creeping blue tinge grows over the screen not unsimilar to a negative but in blue. It doesn't affect say google homepage. I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 which is out of guarentee. Does this mean replacement sxreen?

Sounds like a dying screen to me but have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor to make sure the gpu (graphics processing unit) is not on its way out?

It could just be some kind of built in power saving option:-

some latops have a button on the PC for enabling this, mine is an ECO button.

have a check in the manual that this is not a 'feature' of the laptop.

If it's only happening on the screensaver, try another screensaver.
