The PC is up and ready but whenever power is turned on nothing happens. There have been a few occasions when a blue LED at the front flashes and the graphics fan makes a small movement but other than that there is nothing happening. All connectors have been correctly attached and the graphics card and memory have also been firmly attached.

Could you please help me with this?

Hi, welcome to the Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Fyodor,

Can you tell us what wattage your Power Supply Unit is? - If your not sure, there should be a label on the PSU detailing its input/output.

It might be that your hardware is requiring more power than is present.

Also, could you tell us what Motherboard & Processor you are using?

If your using an Intel Processor make sure you have the 4 Pin power adapter connected..

Thanks for your reply Mike.

The PSU is 500w. The mobo is a Gigabyte S-series, GA-P35-S3G and the processor is an E8400 Core 2. The sop I bought it from is a well known store in my area and they recommended these to me. They even installed the processor to the mobo.

Who installed the wires that run from the Case to the Mobo - they are only meant to go in one way - each wire has a - and a + and they have to be on the right pins the right way -

have a look in your MOBO book and it will tell you - some MOBO's actually have the symbols printed on the PCB.

It is vey common for people that have not built pc's before to get most of them the wrong way round.

No, I've checked these a thousand times. A blue LED flashes once at the front of the case whenever the power button is pressed.

is the blue one the power or the HDD activity light on yours?

Yes. I've isolated everything but I think now I'm going to send the mobo back to where I got it as everything seems fine. Thanks for you replies though, they are appreciated.
