Goku Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Hello and Welcome to FPCH Rich. :) I will try my best to assist you with your problem. Can you please tell us what camera are you trying to plug in? Also, do you have any of the discs or drivers that came with the camera? -- Goku Quote
TmcRic Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Hi its a canon 400d and i have all software that came with it mate Cheers Rich Quote
Goku Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Have you tried installing the software from the CD that came with the camera? It will most probably contain the drivers / firmware that are needed to connect the camera with the computer. If not, then please try so and see if the camera is recognized by the computer. Good Luck. -- Goku Quote
TmcRic Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 done all that loaded all eos utility zoombrowser etc as i did when i bought the camera but now after getting laptop back it dosnt work it says hardware found then freezes? Quote
Goku Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 That is strange indeed because if you have already installed the drivers for the camera, then the computer should recognize the device straight away and shouldn't open the "New Hardware Wizard" at all. Are you sure you have installed the drivers for the camera? As you should have already guessed, I am no expert in these matters so please bear with me till I search for a solution or till the other techs get online. Thank you for your patience and co-operation. :) -- Goku Quote
TmcRic Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Cheers 4 this Ive loaded all software ive even tried uninstall all canon soft and tried camera without and it does the same it freezes lol Quote
Goku Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 (edited) Hello Rich. After a brief search, I found the RAW codec for the camera on the following site. Canon RAW Codec 1.3 Please download the codec from the above site and install it on your computer. Make sure the camera is unplugged at that time. After the installation is complete, please reboot your computer. Now, try and connect the camera to the computer. See if it helps or not. Good Luck. -- Goku Edited September 9, 2008 by Goku Quote
TmcRic Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Tried that and still does the same comes up with new hardware then does nothing i had to keep finger on the on off switch to switch off?!!? Never did this before it was mended lol Quote
Goku Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 OK, please wait for a while till I research your problem a bit more. :) -- Goku Quote
Seth Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 You may want to bring it back to the shop as the problem should be under their warranty. If not, can you try the camera in another computer? Also, do other usb devices work? Did you try a different usb port? Right click on "My Computer" and choose Manage>Device Manager. Click on the + sign to the left of USB Controllers. For each item in that heading, right click and choose Uninstall (not every item will have an uninstall option). When complete, restart the computer and the USB controllers will re-install.
