Its my own fault, One of my customers was having major problems with his computer i.e. he was getting a garbaged picture when his computer booted up.

I Suggested it was his Graphics card on the way out.

His machine was an e machine

with a MSI Motherboard with a Pentium 4 proscessor socket type mPGA478, Chipset 845e

I purchased a graphics card for him a GeForce FX 5200, AGP2X/4X or AGP 8X Universal Slot.

Inserted Card Correctly, booted up. No Picture at all.

Sorry to go on just trying to give the full picture.

Not wanting to go on wasting friends money suggested he put the machine into Pc World where he had originally purchased it.

That was a great help they charged £30 and said it was probably the motherboard but they could not help wit it.

Purchased a new Motherboard from Novatech, Asrock P4i65g installed it

correctly but now there is absolutley No response at all.

Could it be the power supply the one fitted is a 300watt max ?

Help please. regards Mike (damman)

Hello Mike

Welcome to FPCH

Did you try the monitor on another pc at any stage?

Posted

Emachines have extremely poor psu's and mobos. Most techs in my city refuse to do any hardware work to an emachines.

Any chance of trying a different psu?

No I said did you try the monitor on a known working pc to ascertain if the monitors knackered Mike.

I agree with Seth - seeing as though you have changed the MOBO and the GPU - then the chances are that the PSU is dead (that could have been what took the MOBO out - as when a PSU goes it normally takes the MOBO or the CPU out with it)

Are you 100% sure that all the connections are installed correctly (this may sound naive) but it is a very common fault, do you get any response from the PC whatsoever - Case LED's, fans spinning up?
