Hello David

Welcome to FPCH

What you state is not logical as a hard drive can't be wirelessly connected.

Do you have some kind of wireless router configuration setup?

Do you get any other messages coming up at all?

thats the thing , i dont have a wireless configuration setup , and there is no warning messages at all that appear to come up , it just disconnects itself from the devices.

Ok so you don't have any wireless hardware but we need you to explain what you mean by " it just disconnects itself from the devices"

What disconnects itself and from what devices?

We can't help you if you are not more explanatory David.

Please help us to help you.

What I meant was ,

Once the system realises it isnt a wireless device, it disables the hard drive from being active on the system , and it will not show on either My Computer, or within the Device Manager. And when it the system is booting up, there is a constant buzzing type sound as though it is constantly trying to connect to the hard drive but is failing everytime.

Are you typing this post on a machine other than the one have issue with?

This sounds like a faulty hard drive that you are booting from.

Do you ever see the message "A network cable is disconnected"?

Wireless hardware and applications have nothing to do with actually physically accessing any hard drives.

I am using the same machine that this problem is occuring on , and there is no message what so ever appearing . It will show in the main start up screen at the beginning of the boot up showing there is a 2nd Hard Drive.

Right click on My Computer and chose Manage, then chose Disk Management and tell me what it says there please for the second hard drive.

Is this an internal hard drive?

Ok here is a picture of how I had my setup when I had XP

Disk 0 has multiple partitions, you talk of a second hard drive which unless you have two physical internal drives must be a partition.

Does it look similar to this?

If the second physical hard drive is not showing then it's dead David.

Open Command Prompt in Accessories and type chkdsk x:

x being the drive letter.

You may need to ACTIVATE the disk - goto control panel>admin tools>computer management>disk management - is the drive in there?
