Guest Wonderman Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I have a hologrammed MS disk with the product key purchased from MS as a discounted promo item when XP first came out. I instlled it ( cant recall registering it ) and have sice moved on to OEM software that came with the machine and then Vista. Would love to sell it now that it is just taking up space and it seems I can get decent dollars for it . Seems there are all varitities of it on eBay. Can anyone point me in the right direction for info as to how I can sell this purchased legal copy with product key ? (BTW - this is not an ad )

(BTW - this is not an ad ) More than likely, the original packaging had some words that explained all that, or it may be explained on the CD itself. What are all the words on the CD? -Paul Randall
Guest Wonderman Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Re: XP Pro full verison license issue The CD has no unusual wording to any effect on this matter. The packaging has nothing either other than promotional info and the CD Key sticker. If I sell this will the new owner have difficulty using it ? Cant recall about registering it but it is not in use andhasnt been in use for years. What is the product key printed on --- an orange label or a holographic COA? However, it would be nice to inform the prospective buyer that it is XP without any Service Pack and that the buyer would/should get and install SP2 along with the 60 or so post-SP2 updates.
Guest Wonderman Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Re: XP Pro full verison license issue The key is on an orange sticker. I've got the extra SP2 Cd to go along with it. Guest Jupiter Jones [MVP] Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Re: XP Pro full verison license issue If you mention SP-2 in the ad, make it clear that it is a separate CD so they do not come back at you because they expected a Windows XP with SP-2 integraded. You may also include this link: http://msfn.org/comments.php?id=9235&catid=1&highlight=slipstream I would suggest only including the information and not slipstream it for them. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Wonderman" <nospamidainc@cox.net> wrote in message news:Z2YCi.123972$xx1.50341@newsfe09.phx... > The key is on an orange sticker. Guest Wonderman Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Re: XP Pro full verison license issue Thanks, will do. So it seems there isnt an issue with me selling this software ? Other ads mention a COA and I havent got it. I presume as I activated this that a new user will have to make a call and state it is sold to a new owner and the prior owner has deleted it ? Geez this license stuff is very detailed.
