What is the best free anti-virus and spyware programs to run on my laptop?

when I had some trouble with my desktop this forum advised me to run malwarebytes and superantispyware which solved my problem.

Just wondering if they are still the best to go for and what firewall to install?

Also can you recomend any free versions of window washer type programs?

If you talk of Registry Cleaners then I suggest that you don't run any.

Beware where you surf, don't click on obscure pop ups and run good secure AV and Malware programs that have been mentioned.

Can you suggest any window washer type program

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Clucky. :)

There are plenty of programs like Windows Washer and one of them, as has already been suggested, is CCleaner. It has the option to securely delete files and overwrite the with random characters to make them irretrievable. However, if you are searching for an alternative to create a bootable disk to wipe all of your data, then I would suggest Eraser. It may take a while to format your hard drive and overwrite them with random characters but it is worth the effort if you value your privacy. Hope that helps.
