The file OLEAUT32.dll is not being found or has become unusable. I need this

file to successfully download a website. Their support site said that I need

to contact a local Microsoft center for help. Does anyone know how to fix

this. I operate Windows ME with Internet Exp. Version 6.0.

Re: error message

What is the error message you are seeing? It is very difficult to

accidentally delete or damage the file oleaut32.dll since it is one of the

Win Me system files protected by the System File Protection mechanism. It

is possible however that you have more than one copy on your system.

Using Windows Explorer check and post back with details of all copies of

oleaut32.dll that you find including their location, size and version.

You can get the size and version information by right clicking in the file

and selecting Properties.

Win Me should contain just one copy of oleaut32.dll which should be

located in the Windows\System folder and should be dated 8 June 2000, size

614,672 bytes and version 2.40.4515.0. Sue to System File Protection

replacing this file isn't particularly easy however I will post details of

how to do so once I've seen your reply.

Re: error message

Thanks for responding. Following is the error message: Alljackpotsviper(1)

has caused an error in OLEAUT32.DLL and will now close. This has happened

with other websites recently with their name at the beginning of the error

message. I am left with no choice but to close out. I checked the file under

properties. The location, dage, size and version all correct. Only one file

appears when I searched. The only thing I noticed is "What program should it

be opening with? and also nothing is checked under Attributes. Any help?
