Guest Baldeagle812 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I am looking at installing a Windows 2003 Server on a client site but am unsure which setup to go for i.e. Small Business Server or Windows 2003 Standard Servers. The client site currently has 50 users on a W2K SBS setup. The client currently runs MS Exchange and MS SQL on one SBS 2000 box. I am thinking of replacing the SBS with 3 windows servers, i.e. Exchange, SQL and a Domain Controller/Backup server. Although SBS state upto 75 users, I can't find anything that will compare SBS with Standard server. At would point should I be considering to user use standard server instead of SBS, can anyone point me in the right direction? Many thanks Stephen Lewis

Guest Kerry Brown Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Re: WINDOWS SERVER VERSUS WINDOWS SBS You would migrate from SBS to three servers when one server can no longer handle the load or you need to overcome one of the limitations of SBS. SBS is an excellent solution at a significantly lower cost. It does however have to run on one box and have some limitations. How does the current server perform? Are any performance problems because of old hardware or because there is too much running on one box? Is there a possibility of growing past 75 users or devices or combination? Do you need to establish a trust with another domain? Answer those questions and you will have your answer. -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca "Baldeagle812" <Baldeagle812@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6B147F1F-3010-4A7F-A6CB-9ABD26D53374@microsoft.com... >I am looking at installing a Windows 2003 Server on a client site but am > unsure which setup to go for i.e. Small Business Server or Windows 2003 > Standard Servers. > > The client site currently has 50 users on a W2K SBS setup.
