Guest Milhouse Van Houten Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I'm trying to help someone with a new installation of Server, and something has come up that's very strange. He insists that when starting the machine (a Dell PowerEdge 1900) that there is no MS boot menu shown at all. It goes right from the BIOS data to starting Windows. I had him check boot.ini, since I suspected the menu delay entry there had been set to 0 somehow, but it shows 30. We're obviously missing something big and obvious but don't know what it is. Any ideas? Thanks.
Guest Darrell Gorter[MSFT] Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 RE: Server 2003: No boot menu. How is that possible? Hello, If there only a single entry in the boot.ini, the boot menu is not displayed. Since there is no choice to made with only a single entry, the 30 second countdown is ignored. You can duplicate the first entry, so that there are two choices, then you should see the countdown Thanks, Darrell Gorter[MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights -------------------- |> From: "Milhouse Van Houten" <btvs@myrealbox.com> |> Subject: Server 2003: No boot menu. Guest Milhouse Van Houten Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Re: Server 2003: No boot menu. How is that possible? Will do, I had forgotten that. Maybe I'll just add a Safe Mode entry, which I expected would be there by default but isn't.
