First, it takes forever to load, maybe two minutes; then it requests "administrator privilege" to allow complete checking and won't allow a full immunization without it. Checking takes much longer and appears to "stall out" numerous times while doing so. I have noticed that others have experienced much the same difficulty which they attribute to AVG, but I'm not using AVG. Fortunately, I had saved the version 1.4 .exe and could easily fall back. The upgrade to V 1.5 was a disaster here. Ken Bland
Guest webster72n Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Re: Spybot Update, 9/5/07 Sorry to hear (read) about your troubles with Spybot 1.5, Ken. It does load quite a bit slower than the previous version, but otherwise functions much better, especially with immunizations. Your "administrator" issue may have something to do with your settings, maybe someone else can enlighten you on that. My memory fails me at the moment in this regard. Except for the the slow loading phase I like the newer version much better. That's a personal view, of course. Harry. Should you check all of those, or only the IE32 (since I do not have a 64 bit program)? And what about the Global Host at the bottom? Check it?? Thanks Richard

But one probably could, if one preferred not to have the item scanned. I have 'Global Hosts', no IE32 nor IE32/64. Any questions 'above our head' can be taken up in their forum. The present count for immunizations in ME is 40775, after the last update, announced by Delboy. Harry.

I'm assuming the IE 32/64 bit group is applicable to both 32 and 64 bit systems whereas the 32 bit group is only for a 32 bit system. As for the Global (Hosts) option, I clear this. If you select it, it inserts the Spybot Hosts entries into your HOSTS file. I use the MVPS Hosts file and prefer not to have the Spybot entries appended to it. Tom
Guest Heather Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Re: Spybot Update, 9/5/07 Sorry to hear the trouble you went thru. As the *boys* here know, I usually wait a couple of weeks at least before putting any new versions of ANYTHING on this machine. Never did update to the new Spybot. Normal female caution?? Or too used to my old WinME getting mucked up by that sort of thing. You will notice I did not say one word about *boys and their toys* or *must be the first on the block to get that*.......LOL. I would never say that about you guys......(cough) Cheers....Heather "Justin Thyme" <enigma-40513@mypacks.net> wrote in message news:OQSjrH7%23HHA.536@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > I've been working with (read: "fighting with") this latest update to V > 1.5 > on my ME machine and have decided to remove it and fall back to V 1.4. > First, it takes forever to load, maybe two minutes; then it requests > "administrator privilege" to allow complete checking and won't allow a > full > immunization without it. Guest TomV Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Re: Spybot Update, 9/5/07 Harry, If you're using Spybot 1.5, click Immunize and you'll see the entries on the Immunize page. If you're using 1.4, this information is not available. Tom webster72n wrote: > Those IE entries are missing in my selection, Tom. > 'You have any idea why? > > Harry. >
Guest webster72n Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Re: Spybot Update, 9/5/07 I am using v.1.5, but those entries are not present. May have an idea, why not: somewhere in the settings I have IE unchecked twice. Since it's my preference, I'll leave it that way. Thanks Tom. Harry.
