FSMO roles

For the inplace upgrade from NT 4 domain to Windows Server 2003 AD only one

domain, do I need to transfer the FSMO roles or it's does it during the

upgrade. Thanks in advance.

No it is part of the migration process and done manually using ADMT

There are no FSMO roles in NT 4.0.

 

When the Win 2k3 DC is created it will hold all the FSMO roles for the AD

domain.

To explain further you need to upgrade your Windows NT PDC first. This

will assume the 5 FSMO roles of the domain.
