can Event Viewer send an email if specific events happen?

I'd like to send out an email if an event occures, say like a failed login.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated!

event viewer out of the box will not do this. You need a utility for

this and there are a few out there. For security events check out GFI

SELM. Free trial

Unfortunately no! I hope 2008 does that.

 

One can use MOM or ActivExperts Network Monitor for that.

There are others, but I don't remember by heart.

You can have Exchange program certain events to email you, but if you run

Small Businiess Server yes, you can program it to send you Event viewer

Alerts plus threshholds...
