Guest BBW Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I thought I saw something about if you have Windows 2K3 and Office2K3, you can configure your systems so that when you do a save in Word, the overwritten file can be gotten back without a conventional backup/restore. Can someone point me in the correct direction...? Thanks, Tom...

W2003 has Volume Shadow Copy....this is essentially "snapshot" backups of files & folders (enabled on a per drive basis) taken twice daily. It has nothing to do with Office or Word or those file types specifically. See whether http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Windows-Server-2003-Volume-Shadow-Copy-Service.html helps clarify this. VSS is awesome. I never get phone calls about tape restores now unless blue smoke is coming out of the back of the server.
