Guest Steve Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Every time I start up the computer Windows Desktop Search has to re-"scan" 30000-50000 items. This can keep the disk active for 20 to 30 minutes. Is this normal? It makes me question whether WDS is worth it or not. I tried researching the problem but couldn't find anything. I did find that I am unable to determine the version of WDS that I have installed. I thought that maybe a later version might improve things. Anybody know how to find the version? I have Google's answer to WDS (or was it the other way around) installed on my laptop (also XP). It gives just as good results without the excess disk activity.
