debsbeakley Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Hi i'm new to this forum and really need some help. I have just bought my son a new laptop. It's an Acer aspire 5920 running on windows vista home premium edition. Everything good apart from the fact there is no sound. I have looked through the manual etc and have tried to do what they suggested ie make sure volume control "wheel" at front of machine is working and that audio in windows is not mute. I've got a very frustrated little boy here as it's his birthday present and he wants to use the machine properly! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Deb Quote

debsbeakley Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 no sound laptop Hi thanks for your reply. I have done that and in the bottom righthand corner the icon shows that realtek version 6 is on a volime level of 66!? Gone in control panel of windows and sound card is installed and showing as working. Wouldn't let me download driver as detected i was already using the best version. I think this must be really something simple and that i am going to feel very stupid in the end but my god it's annoying and frustrating. Any ideas?? Cheers, Deb Quote

Goku Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hello and Welcome to FPCH Deb. :) Are you able to hear any of the Windows' log on / log off sounds? If yes, then it might be a problem with an application you are trying to launch. -- Goku Quote
