Hi Eric,

I'm a little confused by your question. Can you be a little clearer or

specific as to what you want to know about the PF?

By PF I presume you mean pagefile....but I don't know what you want to know

about it.

Task Manager is pretty limited. Try Sysinternals Process Monitor

(downloadable from MS, free) for a lot more info about what's running on

your machine.

Eric,

Here is the link for Process Monitor. The page gives a description of it,

and the download link is at the very bottom of the page:

Pardon my jumping in here...

PF = pagefile = virtual memory.

I always thought it was:

Virtual Memory = PF + RAM

Re: What is PF usage under task manager?

Hi Dave,

I believe I've heard that before too, but in the strictest sense, virtual

memory is only the PF. RAM is physical memory--nothing virtual about it.

Some applications or monitors *may* regard VM that way though.

I got a feeling I've just started something. ;-)

Both definitions are commonly used, but according to Microsoft, your

definition is correct. See
