AdvancedSetup Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Well it sounds like the files were split due to the large size of the file. If that is the case then you can manually piece the files back together in DOS but easier to use a program to do it. I would also highly recommend using WinRAR instead of WinACE since it has pretty much become the standard used on the Internet these days. FFSJ: The Fastest File Splitter and Joiner 3.3 FFSJ consists of two main programs: File Splitter and File Joiner. File Splitter enables you to split a large file into small chunks which are easy to be sent and stored, while File Joiner allows you to join these split parts together so that the original file is restored. HJ-Split 2.3 HJSplit is a popular set of freeware file-splitting programs created by Freebyte.com rarlab.com WinRAR provides the full RAR and ZIP file support, can decompress CAB, GZIP, ACE and other archive formats. Dalo Harkin Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Depending on what you are opening - all the 00, 01,02 files contain the same information - you only need one of them to be extracted ;) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
Guest Wolfeymole Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 What exactly are you trying to extract/open Cath? Quote
Goku Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hello and Welcome to FPCH Cathy. :) What you state leads me to believe that they are two different set of files you are trying to extract. The first file that is the one with *.rar extension should extract fine without any prompts but the second file with the *.r01 extension and so on will need to be extracted by rejoining them first. In that case, you can use Randy's instructions to extract the file successfully. Hope that helps. -- Goku Quote
Mara Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Hi Cathy, I've had wonderful success with a free program called 'ZIPEG' - it's really easy to use as one merely clicks on any .rar file you've downloaded and the program instantly pops up to open it. Zipeg - Got pictures? Zip thru JPEG photo archives (Gentle hint - don't forget to scan everything downloaded onto computer for both malware and viruses prior to opening. ZIPEG does the opening but it can't tell us if there's a nasty bug waiting inside or not). Quote
