Guest Richard Perry Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 My CTO is looking for specific evidence that installing Forefront Client Security on a Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise R2 SP2) file server is a necessary step. For the last 2 years, we ran NOD32 on our servers (and clients), but have recently migrated to Forefront. Can anyone point me to documentation that states that FCS is a valid software package for a file server? I can see it is a supported client, meets the system requirements, but I can't find anything that says "You need anti-virus on your servers, and FCS is a good choice for that". Richard
Guest Ken Zhao [MSFT] Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 RE: Forefront Client Security installed on File/Application servers? Hello Richard, Thank you for using newsgroup! Based on my knowledge, there is no separate edition of Forefront Client Security for File/Application server. For more related information about requirement of Forefront Client Security, please refer to: Microsoft Forefront Client Security system requirements http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/forefront/clientsecurity/bb508818.aspx Thanks & Regards, Ken Zhao Microsoft Online Support Microsoft Global Technical Support Center Get Secure! - http://www.microsoft.com/security <http://www.microsoft.com/security> ==================================================== When responding to posts, please "Reply to Group" via your newsreader so that others may learn and benefit from your issue. ==================================================== This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. -------------------- | From: "Richard Perry" <RichardPerry@newsgroup.nospam> | Subject: Forefront Client Security installed on File/Application servers? | Date: Fri, 7 Sep 2007 13:52:12 -0700 | Lines: 1 | Message-ID: <6D584576-9FE6-4FF1-A1A0-40EDA2D1608D@microsoft.com> | MIME-Version: 1.0 | Content-Type: text/plain; | format=flowed; | charset="iso-8859-1"; | reply-type=original | Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit | X-Priority: 3 | X-MSMail-Priority: Normal | Importance: Normal | X-Newsreader: Microsoft Windows Live Mail 12.0.1184 | X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V12.0.1184 | X-MS-CommunityGroup-PostID: {6D584576-9FE6-4FF1-A1A0-40EDA2D1608D} | X-MS-CommunityGroup-MessageCategory: {E4FCE0A9-75B4-4168-BFF9-16C22D8747EC} | Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windows.server.general | NNTP-Posting-Host: 209.242.152.130 | Path: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP01.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl | Xref: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl microsoft.public.windows.server.general:21672 | X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.windows.server.general | | My CTO is looking for specific evidence that installing Forefront Client | Security on a Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise R2 SP2) file server is a | necessary step.
