Guest Gerald Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 We have a server running Server2K3 that has excessive disk activity. Disk drive is so busy that normal browsing on the serve itself is slow. It is a 3Gig Pentium processor with 2Gig RAM and 160 Gig HDD. We have an email app and WSUS-2 running. Neither of these apps are very active and even if they are disabled the disk activity does not cease. When we run "DiskMon" it shows continual write activity, but I cannot determine file names to try trace what is happening. Any suggestions as to how i can resolve this. I am considering reformatting and re-installing Server 2K3 and the apps. Thanks in advance ....

Is it also a Domain controler ? What is you disk subsystem ? Raid ? scsi / sata ? any antivirus installed? -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com "Gerald" <Gerald@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:76DF1EDB-76AE-4076-95DD-35A4B150B5C1@microsoft.com... > We have a server running Server2K3 that has excessive disk activity. Guest Gerald Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Re: Excessive disk activity Memory 2Gig - about 1Gig free Disk - Sata Antivir - Bit Defender Server Edition - Disabled still no difference 2nd DC on our domain. I just demoted it as well - No Difference DiskMon indicates lots of write activity - "Mathieu CHATEAU" wrote: > Hello, > > have a look in the task manager.
