fluxx88 Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 yeh, i tried that last night when i tried again after installing the graphics card driver...should i be running an installer/driver for the dvd drive?? there was disk in with the pc when i got it? being obviously stupid now i doubt that seeing its working and reading the disks.. fluxx88 Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 guess..guess whos back..back again...the real slim.. after doing everything apart from giving my computer a good kicking i got at least one game to semi-play... but still problems...it wont play from any of the normal exe. only when you tell it to play without sound it will play fine??? or also without video?? rome still doesnt work after multiple installs getting worried now plus the radeon pro says its only 512mb rather then the 1gb shown for the love of god somebody helpppppp meeeeeee:( Quote

The first thing you did was install a game. You didn't update Windows first? You didn't install an AV first? Where did you say you got this computer? Where did you buy XP? Where did you buy this game? Once you installed this XP version did you also install the the drivers for this particular model? fluxx88 Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 no windows boots up normally, only the 'games' have a problem loading , none of them work through the shortcuts or file exe. rome total war doesnt work at all 'unspecified error' no report while age of empires 3 only lets you run the game through a diagnostic choosing to either play with no sound or no video but then it runs fine.... your right i was a bit hasty in my installation but when it comes to the whole installation of op systems im a complete novice, but everything else generally isnt a problem sooo i turned to you guys for a bit of help... When you got that new box without an operating system you should have got a system disk with it that would have installed the drivers after installing windows. What happened to that? Quote
fluxx88 Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 yeh..there wasnt one, i phoned them today and they said they will send it to me with the greatest of apologies.... ive found the avrock site so im going to download most of the drivers an stuff an have a play around, i figure the worst i'll have to do now is re-install everything anyway.. at least that way i can learn from my mistakes... fluxx88 Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 just thought i'd let you know i seem to have fixed all the problems..... downloaded the latest catalsyt driver 8.9 that did the trick for all my graphics problems.. and all the relevant drivers for the motherboard, so the sound now works etc... theres a couple more quirks to sort out but im sure i'll fix those now the balls rolling.. anyways thanx for the help & sorry for being a pain in the behind :) Quote
