sony vaio - tv out socket?

Hi,

I am wanting to transfer an image to my tv screen using my Sony Vaio Laptop VGN NR21M/S but there is not a tv out socket nor s video socket on the laptop. All I have is an external monitor 15 pin and usb ports. Is it possible then? I dont think the external monitor will work - will it?

I am thinking of buying a slingbox which will allow me to watch Tv here in Spain and want to transfer my computer screen image to a larger TV screen. Hope someone can help.

Is the socket on the back of the Vaio that you refer to as the 15 pin blue - as that is the VGA and you can use that to connect to an external monitor, providing the TV supports it

Hi Thanks. The 15 pin socket is a kind of greyish light blue. I have not got the cables here with me in spain to test it out. Presumably it will be a 15 pin to scart connection as described. I only doubt its ability to work as I once tried to show a dvd from the laptop to the tv and while I got a 'picture' showing recognition of a contact - the dvd did not run on it. The Tv is a new panasonic Viera

Ok - is the socket on the side of the Vaio that you describe male or female?

ok - thats still ok - you just need a different cable than a standard VGA one
