Guest ManyBeers Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 My welcome screen shows a new mail message notification on my logon space and i don't want it there. How do i get rid of it. I use Mozilla suite for e-mail and browsing and there is no new mail. I have used outlook express about 3 years ago for a couple of messages but that is it. Anyways isn't there a registry key i can go to and remove the offending entry?

Download tweak ui xp from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Scroll down the lh column to Logon / Unread Mail & deselect "show unread mail..." I had this problem when I first had XP. Regards Mike.

Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows|Currentversion\unreadmail Double click the value message count in the right pane and change the value to 0.
