Guest kimiraikkonen Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I've posted that kind of message with no help and i'm strange and not sure if it's and XP problem, it seems. I've updated my NICs driver but if i use a password to logon my PC, no problem about displaying a "connected" LAN icon in taskbar, but if i enable auto-logon (no password), usually i get "network cable unplugged" icon in taskbar with a liar, because although that icon is displayed, i can browse all the sites (not cached, new ones) with no problem. On Win2k Pro Sp4, i didn't see that kind of problem. What do you recommend? Thanks.

Apparently a timing issue. First, install this optional update (select the appropriate language resource) and configure according to KB917730: "You cannot create a network connection when you are starting a Windows XP SP2-based computer" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917730/en-us Make sure that there is *no* third-party firewall installed. Next, Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Search for Network Folders and Printers automatically > tick. If WinXP Pro installed, perform the following step in addition. Start > Run: GPEDIT.MSC > Computer Configuration > Administrative Tools > System > Logon > Wait for the network at logon and restart > activate. -- d-d

The last paragraph seems to worked it fine now, if someting is wrong again, i'll report.

I activated that option which you've suggested, but one day it says network cable is unplugged after a fast boot up. What do you think?
