Vicar is jailed over child porn

A vicar who admitted possessing more than 56,000 indecent images of children has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison at Cardiff Crown Court.

The Reverend Richard Hart, 59, from Surrey, but formerly of Beguildy, near Knighton in Powys, admitted taking, making and possessing pictures.

The 21 offences took place between 1991 and 2007.

In addition to the criminal case, the matter has also been referred to a Church in Wales disciplinary panel.

On 3 September, the former chairman of governors at Beguildy primary school was remanded in custody after he admitted 12 charges of making indecent images of children, four of taking indecent images and five of possessing images on his computer.

The court heard he had 44 images showing child sex abuse in the most serious category five - with 52,240 in the least serious category, 2,419 in category two, a further 684 in category three and 1,445 in category four.

Yet another example of a revolving door justice system. I use the term "justice' extremely lightly.

I wish all those scumbags and their associated filth were executed.

As do I, I am a strong believer in the death penalty and the only reason that we dont have it in most countries is that the government and people in charge are soft and they are afraid of the backlash from it - they need to grow a back bone and change policy.

There is no real prevention for people committing serious crimes - people get locked up serve some time (with their mates) and then get out on good behaviour -

Give me an AK47 and I will do it myself

Yes that is a sad story, but how many times do things like that happen - the words 'beyond reasonable doubt' would be more than enough

The police are warning that a pedophile and rapist has being released. The police also warn that he is a threat to the public.

Judge has released such an offender to live with us "lower class", yet would never allow such an offender to live in his posh neighborhood.

I to believed in the death penalty but the police over the years have made too many mistakes for this to be a option.

Since this must be discounted I firmly believe Life must mean Life. Once you decide to deliberately take a life you for go any right to live in soceity again.

I also agree with Wolfeymole 3.5 years isn't nearly enough he will be out in less than 2 years. Can't say the same for the victims of this horrendous crime they have life sentence to live with.

An extract from the Wiki reference earlier.

The case was one of the first major miscarriages of justice perpetrated by British Courts after the end of the second World War and was followed by many more, such as the cases of the Birmingham Six, and the Guildford Four, among numerous others. If the lessons of the Evans case had been heeded by the authorities, then many more injustices would have been prevented.
These events brought the PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence) Act into being thank God.

Whereas before a "Result" was needed and had previously been obtained through force and violence.

Now all interviews are taped, which had not happened before.

If there is the remotest possibility of the wrong man getting strung up then we can never have hanging back and, as Albert Pierrepoint (Britain's most famous albeit not the last hangman) said,

"I have come to the conclusion that executions solve nothing, and are only an antiquated relic of a primitive desire for revenge which takes the easy way and hands over the responsibility for revenge to other people...The trouble with the death penalty has always been that nobody wanted it for everybody, but everybody differed about who should get off."

Does Britain do the same "Life = 25 years" that we do in Canuckistan?

If so, they ought give him one of those for every category five.

(Though I agree with the Death Penalty, the logistics of administering it mistake-free are impossible, and I've also seen some reports that it's more expensive to kill an inmate than keep them locked up for life.)
