Icon pictures are missing and have been replaced by th default white page

icon. How do I get the original ones back and how do I prevent this from

happening in the future?

It sounds like your .ico association has been clobbered. Try using Tweak

UI, Repair, Rebuild Icons. If you don't have it, download it from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Install TweakUI.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

TweakUI > Repair > Rebuild Icons > Repair now.

Next: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (Line 4)

You may want to increase the icon cache. Start > Run: Regedit.

Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Create the string value "Max Cached Icons" in the right pane and assign

the value "4096". Reboot when done.

What caused it to happen? (Icon pictures all change to default icon picture,

white page)

Re: Missing icon pictures

Some unknown action broke the icon association in the registry.

The damaged icon cache (IconCache.db), most likely.
