Guest Jim Hawkins Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Windows XP Home Edition, SP2: Don't know what I've done, but my bottom taskbar doesn't show my running apps any more. I have to open the Task Manager to see what's running. What do I have to do to get them back ? Jim Hawkins

Guest Dee Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Re: Open apps missing from tasknar Hi, Have you tried right-clicking on the taskbar and choosing properties? You can either uncheck the box for Hide Inactive Icons or click Customize next to that and see if you have anything in there you want to "show". Take Care... Guest Jim Hawkins Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Re: Open apps missing from tasknar Yes, tried all the usual things - no effect. But 'Lady Kelly's tool' did the trick. A very slick little utility. Jim Hawkins "Dee" <dade62@verizon.net> wrote in message news:HHTEi.138$BL3.118@trndny01... > Hi, > Have you tried right-clicking on the taskbar and choosing properties? Guest Dee Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Re: Open apps missing from tasknar Hi there... Kelly is the phenom of support for these Operating Systems. I am a power user and an advanced user and I have been using her tips since XP made its debut. I recommend them to many people. Glad you solved your problem. Also, Kudos to Doug Knox and Ken Blake who are two I have faith in and have been impressed with for years. They won't steer you wrong. Take Care... Guest Dee Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Re: Open apps missing from tasknar Hi Ken... And it is all well deserved. It's been awhile since I have been to the newsgroups but I remember well the old Windows 98 days and communicating with you when we first began delving into the XP OS. Wanted to make mention to new users to your always sound and good advice and tips. Last I heard he was still active in alt.windows98, but it's been a long time since I've been there and I don't know if he still is. I understand that Peter became very busy with his music, and hasn't had much time to devote to his computer interests. But I haven't heard from him in a long while either, so things may have changed since then. > Ken Blake, MVP wrote: > > > On Mon, 10 Sep 2007 19:40:13 GMT, Dee <dade62@verizon.net> wrote: > > > > > >>Hi there... > >>Kelly is the phenom of support for these Operating Systems. Guest Dee Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Re: Open apps missing from tasknar Hi Ken... And thanks for the info. Been so busy for a long time and since days of old, I started computer repair etc...in my area where good shops are hard to find and closing down left and right. Also, beta testing quite a bit. We old vets I found are more knowledgeable than the shops that opened and closed here with the so called "college grads" in the area of computer hardware and software. Many computers left those shops in worse shape they went in and came to me. I've often thought about you and several of us. Call me extremely bias, but putting several of us together and my thoughts are that no one could touch us with our combined knowledge and experience. Yes, I am proud of the handful of us. I read your posts all time since looking over the NGs again. Kills time for me in the mornings when I am waking up with my coffee :) Just wanted again, to let new users know about your excellent and sound advice. Hope all is well and take care Ken... Dee P.S. Still have Peter's Startman Program and always considered him the "Father" of Tweak UI. I recall well the original Langa List and way back when, when Langa mentioned any one of us, I considered it a privilege to be mentioned by him. Anyway... It's good to still see you in the NGs and know the advice you give is coming from one of the best!
