Guest OttoSyracuse Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Can anyone tell me why my friends computer has a lot of temp folders (Word 2003)in his My Documents folder. Haven't seen this and couldn't find any info on it and CCleaner does not get rid of them. Is there a way to stop having these temps go in that folder? Thanks

Guest OttoSyracuse Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Re: Temps in My Documents Folder i went into tools, options, savetab and it was not checked next to always create back up etc. Actually when i checked his computer, it wasn't My documents, it was word files saved in a desktop folder name Misc but i don't think that would matter. Is there something else i should look for in word "DL" wrote: > Check the Options of Word for file locations > > "OttoSyracuse" <OttoSyracuse@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:9B28C9AA-22E5-4AE5-955A-67CE9AF7E041@microsoft.com... > > Can anyone tell me why my friends computer has a lot of temp folders (Word > > 2003)in his My Documents folder. > > Haven't seen this and couldn't find any info on it and CCleaner does not > > get > > rid of them. > > Is there a way to stop having these temps go in that folder? > > Thanks > > >
Guest V Green Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Re: Temps in My Documents Folder Word ALWAYS creats a tmp file of every .DOC you open, usually in the same directory that the original file was in. If Word crashes or is exited improperly, these files will not get deleted - Word will delete them automatically when it is closed properly. Is your friend shtting down the computer with Word still running using the power switch rather than with the Start>>Shutdown method ? Guest OttoSyracuse Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Re: Temps in My Documents Folder He types document, saves doc to folder on desktop by using picture of disc on toolbar on top of word 2003 doc. Then closes doc by hitting red x. Then he has to open outlook to send that file as an attachment. Does not shut down with anything running and uses start, shutdown. I tried saving down same way and no temp on my computer. Usually i save a doc by going to file save.
