How long does Windows Defender offline scan take?

I wanted to do a scan on my system ( Elite book folio 1040g), I launched the Windows Defender Offline scan and then my system shut down, screen has been dark, making noise, the fans I guess, and the power light has been on for the last 2 hours. Please, I need a solution to solve this or end the scan as my screen is still black. Thank you in advance.
