Miracast does not want to move off of the '____ is about to project' screen on my old laptop.

I'm using (more like attempting to use) my old laptop as a second monitor via Miracast projection, which gets me as far as the "_____ is about to project" loading screen on the laptop and the small screen shrink/expand animation on my main monitor. I have the ability to give audio output to my laptop and everything, but it doesn't go through. I've tried updating/reinstalling any related drivers (Wireless Display, both Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapters, the Miracast display device, my device's Display adapter, everything.) I've restarted both pcs countless times, disconnected and reconnec
