Guest epiphane Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Howdy just getting around to installing SP2 onto my non-online/non-network workstation Win XP, sp1 system. (intel 3.06 cpu, 1GB ram, Scsi, etc) Have tried several times & always get this result: After the backing up files stage, I get a box which says: "Service pack 2 Setup Error, Service Pack 2 canceled" That's it, no further info. Have loaded all default services.files etc......just thought of something....I'll try installing it via Safe Mode later....but I'll post this message in the hopes that one of you will have an idea. Many Thanks
Guest epiphane Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 RE: error when installing SP2 I just tried it in Safe Mode...no luck. I get the error half way into backing up files. Checking MS KB comes up w/ no similar error message.
Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Re: error when installing SP2 Windows XP Service Pack 2 Problem Solver http://winhlp.com/WxSP2.htm To find out why the installation fails see " Cannot install Service Pack 2 " to find out where relevant log files are located. Suggest you also see " Preparing for installation ".
