How do i reset ethernet ip?

so i made a mistake of messing around with the control panels ip setting for my network. I was trying to lead internet through my laptop to my desktop. it worked, but now that ive plugged in a normal ethernet cable from my router (to my desktop) it now says unidentified network.if tried all the ipconfig and net ish things and none work. the ipconfig / renew does not work.it just gives an error saying that it cannot connect to the dhcp or somethings network. help. i dont know what to do.
