Windows 10 Enterprise refuses to zip files, then after a while the zip file appears in the folder

Windows is refusing to zip some (most of) the files I try, stating that there are characters in their names that can't be zipped. That is not true, and I have been doing that for over 10 years in this job, only a couple of weeks ago it started doing this. And it's in English, so not even a language issue with special characters. I have retyped the whole name of the file and only once that solved it (for some reason, it was the period before the extension). Now it's not going through. I also tried copying the name and pasting it in Notepad, then copying it back, it doesn't do anything. For the
